National Railway Museum

National Railway Museum
Leeman Road
York
YO26 4XJ

Admission £5.00 donation

Get up close and personal with the trains at the National Railway Museum, a very interesting place even if you are not into trains. The museum spans 300 years of railway history and has over 1,000,000 objects, memorabilia and trains. Some of them are unbelievable big like the bullet train. Some are decked out in former glory, there are the royal trains, Victoria’s with all it’s glamour to Queen Elizabeth II’s which is just what you would expect, plain and functional. There are talks which give a good insight into the trains, workings etc. There is also an overhead viewing platform where you can watch the trains being repaired.

The museum also has two cafés but I wouldn’t recommend them.
